Welcome to the First Presbyterian Church of Montpelier, Ohio

Welcome to the Montpelier First Presbyterian Church family. You are invited to get acquainted with our family and in turn make it your own. Our purpose is to grow spiritually, pray and study scripture daily, worship weekly, serve in ministry here at First Presbyterian, serve in outreach beyond Montpelier, tithe our personal resources, and encourage spiritual growth in others through relationships. We believe with the Saints and Scripture that "Nothing is impossible with God" (Mark 10:27b). Please join us on the journey of your life. Click here for the latest message from "Dave's Desk" (updated 3/12/08).

Yours in Christ,

David E. Tilly, Pastor

Summit Youth Group Needs You!

How would you like to take an active part in molding the youth of the church? The Christian Education Committee is looking for new leaders for the Summit Youth Group. The group consists of kids in Grade 6 to Grade 12. The Committee is looking for adults to sign up a month at a time to plan activities. In the past, the Summit Youth Group has met on the 3rd Sunday of each month following church service. Special events could be on a Sunday or any other day as planned. If you have an interest in working with these great kids, contact Doris Marsh at (419) 485-3339.

Ministry Teams Opportunities

We are looking for people to get involved on one of several different ministry teams. If you have the talent, please consider sharing it with us! For additional information, please call Pat Creek or Deanna Kohlhofer at (419) 485-3339.

  • Drama Team - this team will occasionally perform short dramas pertaining to the Sunday sermon. This will require memorization of short scripts and a rehearsal prior to the performance. We are looking for 8-10 people to be on this team. All ages welcome.

  • Music Team - we are looking for musicians to perform special music before and during the worship hour. We are looking for both vocals and instrumentals. All ages welcome.

  • Video and PowerPoint Team - we are in need for people to put together dynamic and creative presentations for use before and during the worship hour. These presentations can be worked on at your own convenience.

  • Interpretative Dance Team - If you are creative and love to dance, please consider joining this team. We would like to have several people on this team who would occasionally perform before or during the worship hour.

  • Creative Team - we are looking for a group of creative minds to help us visually portray sermon messages. This team would help with sermon themes and appropriate decorations.

  • Contemporary Team - we would like a group of people to begin the process of developing a contemporary service.

  • Bible Study Leaders - we would like to have several Bible studies available for people to plug into. You choose the day and time!

Our Mission

First Presbyterian was founded in 1886 as a congregation of ordinary human beings who struggle: As individual Christians, as a body of believers called together to serve Jesus Christ and the Montpelier community.

The mission of First Presbyterian Church of Montpelier is to become a living expression of God's love transforming strangers into a family whose faith, witness and lifestyle reflect discipleship in Jesus Christ.

From this statement we have developed five goals as follows:

  • Proclaim the living Christ daily in our words and action

  • Reach out to and welcome new sisters and brothers into our family

  • Create a supportive faith community

  • Involve each member of our family in worship, education, mission and fellowship

  • Dedicate our energies and resources to serving others locally and worldwide
